1. Have a public URL

Before you start doing the interesting stuff, you need to take care of the basics. Publish your profile and give it a nice URL.

  • Click on “Edit public profile & URL” - this appears at the top right of your profile (see image below).

2.The headline

This is the first piece of information that people will see on your profile. You want to make sure that people know what you're doing right away.

  • Tailor the headline to the position and industry you're targeting.
  • Use the keywords you found in the previous activity.

3. The info section

Now comes the hard part... the “info” section. We know that many find it difficult to take this step because... What should you write about yourself?

Well, the goal is to show what you're doing, what your job is, and what you're looking for.

  • Write your bio!

Sounds easy right? Yes, we know... How should you summarize your key message in a few sentences? It's also a dynamic text — it should change as your career develops. Here are a few tips that will help you, but don't forget that it's all about expressing yourself.

  • Keep it short and sweet. People won't read anything for too long. LinkedIn only shows the first three lines of your profile summary before readers have to click to see more. This corresponds to approximately 290-310 characters.
  • KEYWORDS!!! It is always a good idea to mention our core competencies. Try to limit yourself to 3 to 5 of these skills. Name the same skills you've already mentioned in your headline (if any).
  • Personalize it. The more authentic, the better. This is the perfect place to talk about your career path and achievements so far, and explain what you're looking for and why you're so good at it.

  • What are your goals and ambitions?
  • Why are you so excited about your current job or industry?
  • Do you have any special knowledge that you have brought to your industry through other life experiences?

4. The Professional Experience Section

In this section, you'll need to explain your main functions and responsibilities and mention the results. We recommend using a maximum of 3-4 bullet points.

Here are a few tips:

  1. Start with an overview. Give an overview of your job in 2-3 sentences and don't forget to mention facts and figures.
  2. Use action worlds and keywords. Use words like “managed,” “grown,” “managed,” etc. instead of “responsible for...” Research and add keywords for your job and industry.
  3. Be clear and concise. Try not to use complicated sentences. Write in the present tense when describing your current job and in the past when describing past experiences.
  4. Focus on your successes. Include your achievements at the beginning, as that's the first thing someone will read.
  5. Don't forget to link other sections to your job. Link courses, organizations, and projects to your job. This allows you to highlight both your professional development and achievements. This highlights both your professional development and achievements.
